Play is every child's right and a crucial part of their development. The importance of play is being increasingly acknowledged by its appearance on international, national and local agendas. As a signatory of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UK recognises this right.
'All children have the right to relax and play, and to join in with a wide range of activities'. (Article 31)
