Children’s Links are hosting the new Play4Life course throughout Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity not to be missed. The Lincolnshire Health and Wellbeing Fund have commissioned Children’s Links to implement the Play4Life project throughout Lincolnshire from September 2010 to August 2012. The overarching goal is to reduce childhood obesity by encouraging adults to offer more physically active play. This project will involve the training of adults in how to engage children aged 0-5 years in active and challenging play. The training courses will be delivered in the following identified Children’s Centres based throughout the county including Lincoln, Sutton Bridge, Gainsborough, Boston and Skegness. Physical inactivity is a public health issue, this is a contributing factor in heart disease, strokes, diabetes and certain cancers. The culture of sedentary lives is producing an increasingly obese population. Children’s Links will be supporting adults and those working with children 0-5 years to promote healthy lifestyles in Lincolnshire by increasing participation in active play and to promote the values of physical activity. What is Play4Life? A fun and interactive and totally FREE training course aimed at increasing opportunities of pleasurable physical play for children 0-5 years.
