Children's Links has a national contract with the Skills Funding Agency (formerly Learning and Skills Council) to deliver apprenticeship programmes. Through this contract, funding is available for learners to access a work-based Training Programme. Those accessing an Apprenticeship will enrol onto a programme during which they will complete a Certificate/Diploma; Functional Skills and in some cases a technical certificate relevant to their area of study.
Occupational areas offered:-
Playwork - "Out of School Childcare/Play provision" which may include Breakfast Clubs, Holiday Play schemes, Out of School Clubs, Youth Centres or Open Access Play Centres (eg: Adventure Playgrounds)
Children's Care, Learning and Development - Nursery, Pre-school, Crèche, Primary School (foundation stage)
Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (Teaching Assistant) - Primary or Secondary School
Youthwork - Youth Centres and clubs, faith groups and churches, leisure centres and sports clubs, out in the community as a detached youth worker and youth support organisations.
The programme is on going and people can enrol throughout the year. The learner will gain work experience in the field of Youth Work, Teaching Assisstant, Playwork or Early Years as well as having study time and tutor-led sessions. The duration of the programme will be between 1-2 years, dependant on the particular apprenticeship programme.
Learners will either have employment in a range of environments working with children and young people ranging from youth centres, preschools, full day care settings, schools to childminding networks and Playwork facilities, such as after school clubs and open access centres.
Apprenticeships are available to everyone but employer/learner contributions are payable for those over 19 years old (dependant on eligibility and sector).
