
Let’s Talk Parenting
Parenting programmes offer a supported environment in which parents have the opportunity to explore, learn and think about parenting issues and develop different approaches to family situations. A group setting promotes the chance to share thoughts, learning and ideas both with facilitators and crucially other parents, some of who maybe experiencing similar difficulties and welcome an opportunity to evolve solutions.
Let’s Talk Parenting is an eight week programme written for delivery to parents of differing abilities with children of all ages. Through an informal and relaxed delivery it covers:-

Getting to know Each Other – Introductory session to the course, facilitators and group.

The Parenting Job – What being a parent includes, the tasks, stamina and resources involved.

Naming Feelings – What are feelings, how did we feel as children, parents influences.

Getting Along Together – Communication styles, skills and negotiation.

Understanding Each Other – Understanding non-verbal signals, effect of different voice tones, effective listening skills.

Making Choices – the importance of encouragement in reinforcing behaviour, boundaries and rewards.

Setting An Example – Role models, influences on child, parents as role models.

Where do we go from here – Recap over course, changes, achievements, possibility of becoming a Support group, certificate presentation, other courses available.
