Nationally, by signing up to the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child in 1989, the U.K agreed to treat CYP as individual citizens in their own right, including having the right to express their views, be heard and taken seriously and to have an influence on all matters affecting them.

The toolkit is a guide to increasing participation of children and young people in organisations working with them. It offers practical methods to help children and young people influence change. At the end of each chapter there is a selection for best practice examples. We want to make sure that your group’s work results in tangible outcomes that will improve the lives of children and young people, based on their views, wishes and feelings.
