Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 7th July 2025.
At Children’s Links, we are committed to making our site – www.childrenslinks.org.uk – accessible to all users, including people with disabilities.
What web accessibility means
An accessible site enables all visitors – including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, or motor impairments – to browse, navigate and interact with the site with the same ease and experience as other users. This is achieved through inclusive design, technical adaptation, and support for assistive technologies.
Accessibility adjustments on this site
We have adapted this website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, and aim to meet Level AA compliance. Due to our site being recently updated to this new Wix platform, some content may be partially compliant or under review.
Our site has been optimised for compatibility with assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard navigation. As part of our efforts, we have also:
-
Used the Wix Accessibility Wizard to identify and fix potential issues
-
Set the primary language of the site (English) and added a translate feature which will be functional soon, however the website is currently still in progress, due to it being recently updated
-
Set the content order of the site’s pages
-
Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages
-
Added alternative text to images – this is not on all pages yet due to the website still being a work in progress
-
Implemented high-contrast colour schemes that meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines
-
Reduced use of unnecessary animations and motion
-
Ensured keyboard navigability and skip links are in place where relevant
-
Designed content to be zoomed up to 300% without loss of function
-
Worked towards ensuring that videos, audio files and documents are accessible
We have designed the site using high-contrast colours and readable fonts, and support standard keyboard navigation. While we do not currently offer built-in style switching, users can customise their experience using browser tools such as zoom, font scaling, or screen readers. This ensures our website will support a range of visual preferences.
